An Obeah man cast a spell on the governor after he raped Azeel, but Rodrigo, who was in a relationship with Azeel, was not satisfied. So Rodrigo hired zombies to a Houngan to kill the governor. Captain Accompong had Rodrigo turned into a zombie for committing a very serious mistake, the incriminating ones. Capt. Cresswell is their captive. LJ promises to have Creswell tried for his crimes. While walking with the convoy, Jamie thinks of his father.
The men arrive in Bordeaux, Ian takes Jamie to a tavern, they continue their conversation about sex.
The men accompany the convoy to its final destination. The Church Captain makes sure Jamie speaks Hebrew. Jamie thinks of the waitress at the tavern.
Jamie and Ian talk about their aveni. The Church Captain takes Jamie and Ian to a future client, Dr. Hasdi.
The group meets Dr. Hasdi and his granddaughter Rebekah who acts as a translator. Dr. Hasdi outlines the mission he expects from them.
Dr. Hasdi treats the wounds on Jamie's back.
Ian and Jamie go to a tavern called Le Poulet Gai. They talk about their meeting with Rebekah.
Outside the tavern, Jamie and Ian witness the rape of a prostitute by Mathieu, one of the mercenaries.
At another tavern, Ian and Jamie regret not having intervened during the rape and wonder what they could have done. They talk about Jenny.
2 days later
The group sets out for Paris, with Rebekah and her governess and the Torah in a stagecoach, escorted by Jamie and Ian, while the rest of the group would take care of the money.
The stagecoach escorted by Jamie and Ian is attacked by thieves. Mr. Peretz is killed.
Jamie, Ian, Rebekah and her housekeeper go on horseback to Saint-Aulaye and leave the carriage with Mr. Peretz on the bench, by the side of the road, waiting to send someone to pick it up.
They settle in a tavern.
Rebekah makes Jamie drink an opium infusion. The group discusses the attack. Jamie begins to have strange dreams.
NIGHT
Ian and Jamie discuss what happened between Ian and Rebekah.

Jamie discovers that Rebekah and her housekeeper are gone.
Jamie and Ian ask the stable boy if he saw the 2 women and the direction they took.
They set out to catch up with the women. They learn that the church captain was also attacked by the same Jewish bandits.
A woman told them that she had seen the two women heading towards Viscount Beaumont's castle.
They arrive at the castle and are greeted by Viscount Beaumont who turns out to be one of the bandits who attacked them yesterday.
They introduce themselves and the Viscount de Beaumont tells them their story to him and Rebekah.
PM
Jamie and Ian are locked in the castle's wine cellar during wedding preparations. Jamie thought about the situation.
EVENING
Jamie and Ian are invited to attend the wedding ceremony and report the legality of the wedding to Dr. Hasdi.
After the wedding, Jamie arranges for a private meeting with Rebekah. He makes her understand that he understood her intentions. He asks to get the Torah back to bring it back to Dr. Hasdi otherwise he will tell the viscount that one of the bandits engaged was killed during one of the attacks.

Jamie and Ian go to explain to Dr. Hasdi the wedding of his granddaughter and return the Torah scroll.
Later, Jamie and Ian go to the tavern with Jamie's pretty waitress.
Jamie sees the girl with Mathieu manhandling her. Jamie repeatedly asks Mathieu to let go of the girl, but he turns a deaf ear. Jamie, mad with rage, fires a shot with his pistol in the direction of Mathieu. He later fights with him and ends up strangling him.
Jamie sees the girl. She's dead.
Jamie and Ian go to St. Andrew's Cathedral and both light a candle.
